Dr. Sasha Dong is an assistant professor. She received her Ph.D. degree from Cornell University (2015), M.S. degree from Columbia University (2012), and B.S. degree from Nanjing University (2011). Before joining Texas State University as an Assistant Professor of Industrial Engineering, she interned at CSX Transportation as an Operations Research Intern, and worked for FedEx Freight as a Senior Operations Research Scientist.
Dr. Guo Qiu received her PhD degree in Transportation Planning and Management from the School of Transportation at Beijing Jiaotong University in 2019. Her M.S degree in transportation engineering, and B.S degree in traffic engineering are both from Chang’an University in China. Dr. Qiu’s primary research interests are transit network design, travel demand analysis, big data and logistics management.
Lingyu Meng is a graduate student of Industrial Engineering at Texas State University. He received his BS degree in Traffic Engineering from Southeast University, Nanjing, China in 2014. He won the School Best Undergraduate Thesis Award and received an honorable mention at the university level. He is the recipient of the 2018 Graduate College Scholarships (as a new graduate).
Dixizi Liu is a graduate student of Industrial Engineering at Texas State University. She received her MS degree in Management Science and Engineering at Shanghai Maritime University in 2018. Her current research focuses on sentiment analysis of twitter data and contagion model regarding mass shootings.
Joseph Munar is a master student of Industrial Engineering at Rice University. He received his BA degree in Computational and Applied Mathematics (CAAM) and Mathematics from Rice University in 2020. He won the CAAM-Chevron Prize for research and outreach in CAAM as well as graduated with distinction, at the university level, in research and creative works in 2020.
Lauren Christenson is an undergraduate student at Texas State currently perusing BSc in Industrial Engineering. Her focus is to analyze journals that encompass systems such as geographic information, disaster relief, transportation, ect., in order to provide an inclusive draft of the grant proposal this summer. In the fall she plans on furthering her work with Dr. Dong.
Daniel Jacobson is an undergraduate student at Virginia Tech pursuing BS degrees in Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) and Computational Modeling and Data Analytics (CMDA). His research focuses on applying machine learning into stochastic programming in order to create a new class of theoretical optimization methods.
Menna Hassan is an undergraduate student at Purdue University pursuing a BS in Computer Engineering. Her research focuses on using machine learning methods for stochastic programming to improve optimization.
Alexander Little is an undergraduate student of Industrial Engineering with a minor in Applied Mathematics at Texas State University. His current research focuses on applying machine learning and data science techniques to identify social media misinformation. He will start his master study in Fall 2020.
Jorge Dozal is an undergraduate student pursuing a BS in Industrial Engineering at Texas
State. His focus is coding to analyze/filter tweets concerning COVID-19. He does this by
listing geographic information and specific priorities or needs during the pandemic by state,
in order to provide an inclusive draft of the grant proposal this summer.
